FAQs.

WHO NORMALLY GOES TO YOUR CLINIC? . . .

My area of work is focused on women’s health & wellness. Women with hormonal imbalances, painful periods, and pre-and postnatal care. I also offer support for moms-to-be with symptoms ranging from nausea/vomiting, back and hip pain, sciatica, cervical ripening, breached babies, and labor prep. I also treats a variety of psychosomatic concerns including anxiety, stress, digestive health, and pain management.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT MY FIRST TREATMENT? . . .

On your initial booking you will fill out a short patient information form online prior to session. Your health care practitioner will be asking a series of questions to help direct the physical assessment and special tests. Treatment will be performed following the history intake and observation/assement. During the first session a proper identification of the cause of the symptom or dysfunction is a higher priority than initiating treatment and this decision will be made on a case-by-case basis by your therapist.

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED? . . .

Each person is different depending on how long they have had their condition, what sort of lifestyle they lead, and their state of health. We usually recommend three treatments, spaced one to two weeks apart. Some people with less serious conditions may feel better right away. Other people with more difficult or chronic conditions will likely require further treatments to function well. You're reassessed at every visit and your treatment plan is tailored to meet your individual needs.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO MY APPOINTMENT? . . .

Regular underwear, soft shorts and/or stretchy yoga pants are suitable attire. For female clients, a bra that opens at the back is best. Gowns and shorts are available if needed.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS? . . .

Sessions are 60 minutes, one-on-one.

WHAT IS THE COST PER TREATMENT? . . .

The fee per session is $160.00 + gst.

WHAT IS THE CANCELATION POLICY? . . .

You're required to give 24 hour notice to cancel an appointment.

IS ATHLETIC THERAPY FOR ATHLETES ONLY? . . .

Absolutely NOT! Often people think that Athletic Therapists only treat athletes; however athletic therapy is designed for people who have an active lifestyle and want to maintain this lifestyle and remain injury and pain free.

Parking and clinic access?. . .

There is paid parking in the back of the regent medical building. However, if you arrive with a few extra minutes to spare, there are tons of 2hr parking on the neighboring streets!

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM A DOCTOR? . . .

You do not need a referral from your family doctor. Please be aware, however, that some insurance companies may require you to have a doctor’s referral for treatment to be covered by them. Please check your individual policy for details.

IS IT COVERED UNDER MSP? . . .

At present, athletic therapists are not covered by MSP.

WILL MY EXTENDED MEDICAL INSURANCE COVER IT? . . .

Most insurance companies in British Columbia do offer athletic therapy coverage, but it depends on your plan. Upon payment, a receipt will be issued to you that you can then submit to your insurance company.
