FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Online intake form

Fill out the online intake from your appointment confirmation email. If you can’t get to it, you can do it at the clinic, but make sure to arrive 10 minutes prior. Completing it beforehand helps your therapist be more prepared and deliver you a better session.

WILL MY EXTENDED HEALTH INSURANCE COVER Athletic Therapy?

Most insurance companies in British Columbia do offer Athletic Therapy coverage, but it depends on your plan. Upon payment, a receipt will be issued to you that you can then submit to your insurance company.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY DOCTOR?

You do not need a referral from your family doctor to see your Athletic Therapist. Please be aware, however, that some insurance companies may require you to have a doctor’s referral for athletic therapy treatments to be covered by them. Please check your individual policy for details.

What to wear?

Regular underwear, soft shorts and/or stretchy yoga pants are suitable attire. For female clients, a bra that opens at the back is best. Gowns and shorts are available if needed.

HOW LONG ARE APPOINTMENTS?

Sessions are one-on-one, they range from 60 to 90 minutes. Shorter appointments can be arranged.

HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS WILL I NEED?

Each person is different depending on how long they have had their condition, what sort of lifestyle they lead, and their state of health. We usually recommend three treatments, spaced one to two weeks apart. Some people with less serious conditions may feel better right away. Other people with more difficult or chronic conditions will likely require further treatments to function well. You are reassessed at every visit and your treatment plan is tailored to meet your individual needs.

DO I NEED TO SCHEDULE A CONSULTATION INITIALLY?

No. On the first visit your present condition and health history will be discussed. A physical assessment will be conducted, and treatment will begin in the time remaining. In this way you can begin to experience the treatment and benefits.

WHAT WILL TREATMENT BE LIKE?

At your first consultation a complete health history will be taken and the reason for your visit discussed. A thorough physical examination follows: Orthopaedic tests to identify joint restrictions; Soft tissue palpation to assess fascial mobility; Postural evaluation with regard to the centre line of gravity; Gait analysis (walking pattern). Findings from the examination and a subsequent treatment plan are then discussed. Treatment follows in the time available, and techniques are performed mostly in sitting or lying positions. A short assessment occurs at the beginning of subsequent treatments to identify areas which still need to be addressed.

Can I go back to training or exercising?

Good question. Make sure to discuss this with your therapist during your session to plan around a busy training schedule, otherwise, it’s always best to take the rest of the day off and let your body recover.

How much does it cost?

Costs per session range from $85-100. Ranging from 45min session to 60min sessions.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Jessica has a very strict 24 hours appointment cancellation and/or rescheduling policy. As per your signed Service Agreement, patients will be FULLY charged for the cost of the appointment.

When Should I See An Athletic Therapist?

If you are an active individual and have a physical ailment that is either preventing you from continuing activity or feel that the activity is causing your physical ailment, e.g. a runner experiencing chronic knee pain.
